I cared for my mother through the final stages of cancer and cared for my grandmother during her battle with Alzheimer's until she passed. I went to Dr. appointments and shared the results with other family members in the hopes that they could better understand the tragedy that was occurring to our most loved family member. I think I have more than just a clinical level of understanding, not just what your elderly family member is going through but also how their illness effects the rest of the family. I cared for two ladies in Athens, mother /daughter. One elderly and one with terminal cancer. I am not medically trained! I provided companionship, shopping, cooking and light cleaning until the daughter passed and the mother then moved to full time nursing care.
