Greetings Families! I am a conscious parenting mommy/nanny with 25+ years experience and I am a Mommy of two wonderful children, a 1-year-old and a 4-year-old. I am seeking to care for two children while I'm with my 1-year-old and while my 4-year-old is at preschool. I'm seeking four or five days a week from 8:00 to 6:00 (times and days can be figured out to see what works for both families) located in our home located by Lake Merritt. My way of being with children is peaceful, gentle, respectful and empathetic. I believe in fostering a foundation of emotional intelligence early in their lives. Role modeling compassionate communication between the kids helps them learn the tools to speak for themselves and brings awareness to others' feelings. I believe in helping the kids learn how to take turns between each other rather than enforcing sharing. Using statements like "Sage, when you are done playing with the ball, will you let Phineas know it's his turn?" If the other child is really crying because they want a turn now, I would say something like "Phineas, I see you really want a turn now and it's hard to wait. You're having big feeling about this aren't you?" I give reassurance that soon Sage will be done. (*Sage & Phineas are example names) I set firm yet gentle boundaries around hitting, pushing and biting and use empathy to convey how the other child might feel. Then help them find some words to use instead. In general, I role model and use a lot of loving reflective and validating language with the kids and holding them through their emotions. I love taking the kids to the park and exploring the natural world. Being outdoors allows room for all their energy to be expressed and opportunity for them to explore what their bodies can do. We take outings to places like Fairy Land, story time, and Dracena Park. Some days are home days where I provide activities for the kids to explore as their own interest directs. I believe in creating plenty of room for kids to "just be". Too many options and too many plans can overwhelm and overstimulate their systems. I believe in a predictable yet flexible structure. For example, if we have an outing planned, but the kids seem really into just staying home at that time, then I will go with their pace. I see share care childcare as a wonderful opportunity for the kids to have a special daily peer connection. They have a playmate to have fun with but are not overwhelmed by to many kids like in a daycare situation. With focused attention on interpersonal relating facilitated by their care provider, early socialization gives them the opportunity to gain the important tools needed to eventually go into larger learning environments feeling emotionally secure and ready for more complex learning. Our child proof Lake Merritt home is large and clean with plenty of toys and space for the kids to play. We have outside and inside play areas and an lots of extra room for nap time. I drive a fully insured car with plenty of room for more car seats to be kept inside. Since we are within walking distance to the Lake, we will take lots of walks to see feed the birds and enjoy the outdoors. I'm excited to talk to you soon. Thank you for your interest. Genevieve
