Faye was simply amazing for my grandfather. A couple weeks after his wife died, his dementia accelerated beyond what my family was ready for. We went to agencies and care.com. After interviewing many people, Faye stood out the most. She stood out for a reason, you could immediately tell she was patient, understanding, and had experience in memory care. Her problem solving and finding the easiest solution was fantastic. Nobody could get my grandfather to drink water, he would only drink soda and would get dehydrated, but he was stubborn and would fight. Faye simply added water to a glass of soda my grandfather didn’t care. My family thought of that, but only she pulled it off to the most stubborn man in the universe. Since his dementia increased so quickly, nobody in my family knew how to deal with it. My grandfather raised me and my sibling and it was almost impossible to view him as anyone but the authority figure. She helped us come to terms that roles had switched and we had to approach him differently from now on. That may have been the most difficult part of the process, but Faye approached it sympathetically but also logically to explain the role reversal. Now the patience Faye had with my grandfather was unbelievable. He was always angry and made anything he could be difficult. Before his wife passed away, they had a couple caregivers that helped out. After his wife passed, the old caregivers tried to stick around but couldn’t handle it. They got mad and frustrated with my grandfathers dementia, but Faye had the experience and expertise to solve it immediately. Me and the rest of family didn’t know the severity of our grandfather’s dementia, our grandmother did a great job at hiding it. So when she passed away, we got the full brunt of his dementia and none of us could handle it. The first person we talked to was Faye because we had a good feeling and that’s who we stuck with after interviewing 20+ people. No other caregiver looked at their job on a scale that she did. She kept my grandfather safe and healthy, but also supported our family in very difficult times. One thing that surprised us was how much trust Faye made us have. We always knew she was doing everything properly and never had to worry about anything. While still keeping everything professional, she started to feel like a member of the family.
