I have 12 years experience in geriatric care. I was the director of care for 4 assisted living homes in Dallas. I am a medical assistant that graduated in 2008. When worked for the assisted living company I did assessments on potential residents based on care needs to determine if they were appropriate for our facility. I also arranged the entire admission process for néw residents which includes, set up pharmacy needs, arranged doctors visits. I also set up delegated nursing training with staff. I would sometimes also work shifts with staff to teach proper transfer techniques, medication pass, how to handle emergency situations. I also worked hand in hand with our medical director and families to arrange the best care plans based on residents needs. I also coordinated with home health and hospice companies when their services were needed for a patient. I also conducted life enrichment activities individualized to each residents abilities (which includes outings, pet therapy).
