About Emma

For the past 3 years I have been a tutor for my local district's after school program. There I tutored in all subjects up to the 8th grade level. I am familiar with working will all kinds of learners, and enjoy creating enriching activities for students to engage with. For example, one lesson I created was a lesson in which we made zip lock bag ice cream and learned about the differences and defining characteristics of endothermic and exothermic reactions! I also understand that students are going through a particularly stressful time and recognize the need to create space for non-academic learning, specifically around self care. For example, we made space for mindfulness in an activity I created where we colored mandalas, drank tea, and listened to meditation music. I taught the students about the basics of mindfulness and they experienced the benefits of it first hand in that activity.
