About Emily

I am currently a certified Speech Language Pathologist looking to take on some private clients for the Barton Reading and Writing System that is designed for kids with difficulties in reading and writing due to learning disabilities (including dyslexia. I have been a pediatric speech therapist in the private setting for 4 years, with 2 years experience with the Barton system. This system teaches reading and writing using concrete rules, advancing the child through increasingly complex concepts. As a speech therapist, I have a unique approach as a tutor to go beyond the curriculum as well as support children with learning difficulties. I work to create a positive, trusting environment for the children I work with to ensure my kiddos are motivated to work with me. I believe in a personal mission statement to treat every child with respect and patience in order to increase their communication skills and build their self confidence.
