I just finished my Junior year at UIUC along with my third year of being a Personal Assistant for fellow students with physical disabilities. I have learned about and worked with numerous disabilities; for example: spinal cord injury, Muscular Dystrophy, Cerebral Palsy, Spinal Muscular Atrophy, Osteogenesis Imperfecta, etc. My care has focused on Activities of Daily Living (ADLs), which includes assistance with going to the bathroom, showering, dressing, eating, medications and morning/bed routines. I do this through a program at school (Beckwith Residential Support Services), but also work as a Personal Assistant privately through the state when I am home for breaks. Along with my Personal Assistant work in college, I have had experience with babysitting and nannying since the eighth grade (from occasional date night sitting to being employed by a single family for a summer). I have taken care of children as young as three through teenagers. I have watched up to four kids at once.
