About Elyssa

I am a 25-year-old alumnus of the University of Pittsburgh, with a BS in Psychology. Having recently relocated to New York, I am beginning my search for work with loving families in the area. I have worked as a Child Development Specialist at a residential treatment facility for the past two years. This was an incredibly demanding job, caring for 25 young women who have suffered some degree of trauma. I am intensely passionate about advocating for and empowering these young women. I also have three years of experience as a tutor/mentor and summer camp counselor for at-risk children at a local YMCA. Furthermore, I have taken various courses in child development and child psychology. I thoroughly enjoy working with children and have plenty of experience looking after those from the ages of newborn to young adult. I have roughly 12 years of paid babysitting experience, starting in middle school as a mother's helper. I am looking forward to experiencing new child-care opportunities.

Professionally, I have worked with Elyssa in various situations. She has an excellent work ethic as evidenced by her being reliable, approachable and a team player. During her time at the center, Elyssa took initiative giving ideas and suggestions for unit programming. In addition, Elyssa ensured that all programming is implemented and completed to unit expectation. She was responsible for implementing and running a variety of psycho-educational groups with the residents on a daily basis. Overall, Elyssa possessed the attributes to successfully excel at her position at the center. Elyssa would be a benefit to any organization or program.
