I have been watching children all of my life. As the oldest sister in my family, I was my mom's assistant. I was the "go-to" babysitter in my neighborhood and with my extended family. My services are beyond "sitting" or "watching the kids." I provide quality child care that includes a nurturing approach to your child's developmental needs, as well as a safe, stimulating pathway to exploration and learning. Every moment with a child holds a key to wonder, adventure and fun! My goal is to capture those special moments and celebrate them with the child. I believe that respect and trust are the foundation of every relationship with a child. I strive to be conscious of each child's individual interests and emotions. With this in mind, I am able to offer play opportunities catered to each child's unique personality. For many families on Kauai whose own extended families may live on the mainland, I am that Tutu, or grandma who they don't have here on the island. I am an active 64-year-old. I am passionate about being with young children. I have 21 years experience as an early childhood educator for Easter Seals Hawaii here on Kauai. I have more than 30 years of experience working with children of all abilities and have cared for "typically developing" children for over 45 years. My strength is with children from birth to 5 years of age. However, I am able to modify activities for children up to 8 years of age. I am open to caring for older children. I have toys to meet the developmental needs of these age groups as well as fun and creative activities such as art, music, games and dramatic play and much more. I love being outdoors with children as they explore and discover the wonders of nature. I hold a Bachelor of Arts degree in Human Development with a Specialization in Infant and Toddler Development. I have extensive knowledge and training in working with children of all abilities, including children with special needs. I am CPR and First Aid certified, including infant and child CPR and First Aid. I have local references, who are most willing to talk with you about the care I have provided for their children. I look forward to hearing from you about your needs. I prefer to meet with you and your children to discuss your particular needs prior to the first time I care for your children. I am now available full time, including overnight care. I currently provide care for three families on a regular basis and 4 other families for date nights and the like.
