About Dorothy

Retired Special education teacher with 37 years experience and a master's in counseling. Patient and warm. I love to work one-on-one with children, teens and adults with special needs and I'm happy to help with baby sitting including babies and toddlers. I'm a companion, not a nurse/aide, so no heavy lifting or personal care for older children or adults. I'd describe my personality as warm, compassionate and dependable. I like working with kids because after 37 years of teaching children with special needs, I still love the "aha" moments, the progress that's worth celebrating and the way a child lights up when someone is patient with them and believes in them. I started working with kids when I was 16.
