About Dontashia

Hello my name is Dontashia, I am currently attending Daytona State College. I am the eldest of seven children. My experience of caring for another person began once my two youngest siblings were born in 2007 and 2009. I was there second mom. I took over and did everything. From bathing, feeding, changing diapers, putting them to sleep and taking them on play dates. My grandmother was diagnosed with stage four pancreatic cancer. The few months leading up to her death in August of 2009, I moved in with her and became her bedside companion. When her nurse would visit I took notes. I bathe, feed, dressed, styled my grandmothers hair and did her make up. I would accompany her on short walks throughout the neighborhood when she had the energy. At night I read with her or we watched television.
