About Diane

I have been working with seniors for about 7 years now. I gained first hand experience by having my dad pass away from Alzheimer's and lung cancer at a very young age. He was only 67 when we lost him. I helped my mother out, relieving her at times because she needed to go to a support group. I never expected my mother to be the type to participate in something like that. Unfortunately, being isolated and alone as the only one living with dad it was hard for her to always be strong, and she had moments of crying and hopelessness. I did not fully understand at the time what she really went through, until, I started to work with people that had similar sicknesses and saw the devastation it left, being so close to the families. I saw how it was affected them. Coming from a small family of one other sibling it was hard to help mom out because our children were still needing us. We never expected our dad to get sick so early. He did not even get to reach his golden years. My mom had a part time job at a local mall and enjoyed this time away. Eventually, she had to quit because my dad could not be left alone. She tried day programs and dad would not go and some he was not qualified to attend. It took much healing to be able to get through the grieving, and never thought I would be doing this work. The truth is that this work feels so rewarding, unlike many other jobs. I feel so much satisfaction in making a difference in someone's life and providing support to families that need help. It feels like giving back for all the help that my family received from others in our time of need.
