The elderly are wise and amazing! The life lessons I've learned through my experiences are irreplaceable. I've gained experience through volunteering for meals on wheels, and in my local soup kitchen. Weekly visits to my grandfather's assisted living community as well as assisting my mother in the care of my grandmother. I spent lots of that time talking with and listening too stories, helping in food prep, cooking, and grocery shopping. It wasn't till my latter years, when my own mother fell ill, that I truly learned of the fulfillment I felt in caring for her myself but also in having additional helping hands when they could not be mine. A sense of comfort, and ease of guilt for not being able to do it all is what I felt when I hired someone like me. A friendly, familiar face. Someone whom was reliable, trust worthy, and could assist in other everyday household duties. I've always been of service to others and its where my heart is.
