I worked in a mental hospital for over 30 years, I retired in 2011. I have worked with clients from 18 years old to 80 years old. Working in an environment with people with mental illnesses due to drug and alcohol abuse; duo diagnoses clients as well as the mentally ill and mentally challenged clients. Teaching direct care, nurturing, daily living skills, coping skills, and behavioral skills. Working with clients' family members when visiting and information concerning rules and policy of the facility. Assist all clinical personnel with any needs pertaining to the clients. Assist doing secretarial work, filing, ordering supplies, organized activities, provided structured educational programming. Dealing with clients in a crisis situation. Advocate for the clients.
