About Deborah

I have been caring for children for over 30 years. Before bringing my own children into the world I was employed as a live-in nanny for four years. I was responsible for three children; their ages ranging from newborn to six years. Attending to the eldest child, born with Downs Syndrome, exposed me to caring for a child with "special needs". When my children were very young, I operated a licensed daycare in our home for five years. I cared for two infants and four children ranging from ages two to six years. I offered preschool lessons for the children ranging from three to five years of age. Within the past three years I have had the opportunity to tutor foreign exchange students from Korea in the study of the English language. This part time situation has been an annual practice lasting for eight week intervals. I currently babysit for neighbors and a few other families on a part-time/as needed basis. Being the mother of five children (four of whom are now adults) and grandmother of one granddaughter, has offered many opportunities to implement childcare provider skills. I am an experienced homeschooling mother with over 15 years of involvement facilitating educational goals for my children. I have also taught group coop classes for children ranging from ages four to 12. In my spare time I enjoy gardening, sewing, baking, reading, and crafts. Once in a while my husband and I enjoy an evening alone listening to local bands. Time spent with my youngest child include riding bikes, hanging out at the pool, playing outdoor games such as bad mitten and volleyball, playing board games, reading, and creating crafts. I am hoping to obtain a more permanent childcare position. I am in the process of updating my CPR/First Aid certification. I am capable to care for children of any age. My home has been filled with toys and the laughter of children of all ages for the past 26 years. I wouldn't have it any other way! My references are available upon request.
