About Debbie

Experienced teacher and librarian I'd describe my personality as compassionate, caring and creative. I like tutoring because I love assisting students as they both learn to read AND read to learn. I'm looking for a job that supports students as they grow their literacy skills and discover the joy of reading. I started tutoring when I was a college student. In my spare time, I like to spend time with family, enjoy the outdoors, and see new places. One thing you should know about me is I find things I like in everyone I meet and I never give up on a student who is trying. My skills include ongoing targeted assessment, explicit phonics instruction, systematic skill building , and development of comprehension strategies. I strive to help students gain fluency and improve their understanding.
