About Daniel

I am a full time English Major at The College of New Jersey. I have no professional tutoring experience currently, though I am tutoring a number of children this coming summer as well as participating in the college's student writing tutoring program. Literature analysis and writing are my strongest passions, and thus I want to inspire others as well in the same way that I have been inspired by my English teachers and professors. My grasp of English vocabulary and syntax is extensive, and I believe that loving the language and knowing its elaborate structure are not mutually exclusive approaches to English. Much of my free time is spent honing my writing ability with new and usually weird side-projects to broaden my skill set, and another large part is spent finding both theory analysis and pleasure reading that add to my expertise of the subject. Despite the seemingly total pervasiveness of my academic influences though, I have an excellent and constant sense of humor, which functions remarkably well with my teaching style. Rather than choose between having my students like me or respect me, or being their friend or being tough enough to improve their skills, I can do both. I can build a rapport with someone remarkably quickly, and build a relationship conducive to a marked increase in ability over the course of my instruction.
