About Crystal

I am currently an early childhood educator in Pasadena, CA. I am looking to switch gears and focus my attention on one or two children. I am a huge believer in letting children discover the world at their own pace. My philosophy is a combination of ideals from RIE to Alfie Kohn to Janet Lansbury to PET. I believe children deserve to be respected as human beings, and that connection is key to understanding and working with children. I believe in hearing children's ideas and plans and assisting them in accomplishing their goals by modeling and scaffolding rather than providing my own agenda for their growth and development. I believe children should get messy and that the adults interacting with them need to have patience and empathy. I love to explore nature with children, from the beach to hiking. I am the mother of four older children, and have 12+ years of experience with both neurotypical and neurodiverse children.
