With over 30 years in the caregiving profession, I have learned the skills necessary to care for someone physically. However, I believe one of the most important skills required in this profession is the intangibles, such as listening, encouraging, understanding, and relating to your client. they are vital. Seniors have a lot to deal with physically, but also mentally. The right caregiver can play a pivotal role in the "whole body" approach to care by understanding both the body and mind of their client. My experience, education, and common sense enable's me to connect in a way that allows me to help my client deal with their situation. I have been successful in this approach with clients.
