About Colleen

I have 3+ years of full-time paid experience (and 5+ years part-time) as a direct support staff for people with intellectual and developmental disabilities. My tasks included feeding, toileting, bathing, transportation, med admin, safety supervision (CPR/First Aid), community engagement and companionship. I've worked with all age ranges but especially enjoy working with seniors. I love having conversations to learn about their lives. I understand that trust is the most important thing when it comes to a caregiving relationship. I provide patience, calm and understanding when taking care of people. I enjoy getting to know people, and I bring enthusiasm and a positive attitude to work every day. I tackle challenges with a can-do spirit and am resourceful in finding solutions. Safety is my #1 priority. When not working, I spend lots of time with my mini-dachshund George going on walks and exploring. I like to read and write for fun, and I'm a huge baseball fan (Go Pirates!).
