About Claire

I'd describe my personality as curious, engaged, and respectful. I like tutoring because it gives me joy and satisfaction to teach people skills, especially if they are foundational and they will continue to use them in school and for other critical thinking. As a tutor, I live for "ah-ha" moments and work my hardest to inspire them. I started formally tutoring when I arrived at college and began working with kids in a community center. neighborhood. Before then, I taught informally while babysitting. In my spare time, I like to read, write, go on walks, climb, and cook. Recently, I've also been learning how to play chess and knit. One thing you should know about me is that because I grew up with a learning disability, my teaching style is highly adaptable to the needs of individual students. My skills include teaching math concepts and reading practices which include annotation and close reading.
