I homeschooled my Autistic son through the 4th grade until he decided he wanted to attend public school. I covered all the major subjects: reading, writing, math, science, and some not so familiar topics such as Latin language, American and ancient history. I believe a child learns through whole concepts and through a variety of mediums and methods. But I firmly believe a child learns best when they're inspired and the concepts are tangible and real. I used programs such as: * sing, spell, read and write *Abeka readers * Teaching textbooks (math) *Classical Conversations *Manipulatives * Art, field trips, music and videos When my son entered 4th grade he transitioned in perfectly and was ahead in a few areas.
