Over several years I have had the pleasure of sitting for a number of amazing critters from your run of the mill house cats and dogos to bearded dragons and snakes and I have loved every minute of it!!! I can pop in and check on your fur babies; food, water, and go for a walk or sit with them for a bit if they are a little needy; administer medications. Nothing wrong with that! I have also been known to settle in and make myself at home with the animals for a week or just a night. It's really up to what your sweet little ones require to feel safe and regulated while you are away.
