I have cared for my own as well as others' dogs and cats since childhood. As an adult, my most significant experience with pet care was my 14 years with my cat, from 5 months to 14 and a half years. In that time, I cared for him through two major surgeries and multiple procedures, which included several years of administering meds and subcutaneous fluids at home. I have also been the on-call cat-sitter for two cats in their owner's home for the last 10 years, and have provided short-term care for others' cats in my own home.
