About Christina

I am interested in applying for the tutoring position. I love helping children succeed. I am a graduate of St. John s University with a bachelor s degree in Childhood Education 1-6 with a concentration in biology. I recently completed my student teaching experience on the third and fifth grade level, in the Central Islip school district, which has a high ELL student population because I like in Patchogue, Long Island. In my junior year at St. John s University, I worked as a team leader for a non-profit AmeriCorps program called Jumpstart. The purpose of this program was to bridge the literacy gap between preschool and kindergarten in low-income areas. Through the jumpstart program, I learned how to introduce vocabulary, letter recognition, and all of the literacy skills necessary to succeed in kindergarten. After training, I lead 6 college students and as a team, we went into the classroom and taught literacy lessons to preschoolers. Teaching at risk preschool children helped me learn techniques to keep them focused and on the right track to succeed. After 600 hours of service, the preschool director hired me as a teacher s assistant in an Early Learning Center.
