About Cheryl

I am a FL certified teacher in Elementary & Special Education with endorsements in English as a Second Language, Reading, and Autism Spectrum Disorder (ASD). I have taught in Florida Public Schools for 9 years, in special & regular education classrooms. I have experience with the Florida State Standards in grades K-6. I believe the keys to a good learning environment begins with building a rapport with the student. The student must feel safe and secure to learn and grow. They need to feel free to make mistakes and be willing to ask questions and grow from those mistakes. They must be celebrated when they succeed. It is important for me to also provide challenging instruction but not overwhelm the student with more information than can be taken in in one session. I love seeing a student achieve their goals and learn how to achieve success with guidance and support from a tutor.
