About Cheney

I like working with kids because they are magic! There's nothing more life affirming than being with them. They are smart and we are better for learning from them. I started working with kids when I was 15 years old, and I would love to continue my childcare journey in NYC. I just moved here from Canada (specifically, St. John's, Newfoundland). In my spare time, I am a multidisciplinary theatre artist and collager ! I love to write and spend time with friends, following the wind where it takes me! I am enthusiastic and full of joie de vivre! I have quite the childlike exuberance, myself, so I am great at keeping up with kids and matching their energy, but I have a good sense when it is needed for me to mellow things out. I am great at talking to kids like they are my equals and getting on their level. I am highly attentive, I'm a great listener, and I am fun and make kids laugh. They are usually very comfortable around me!
