About Catherine

I started working with kids around 10 years ago. I realized I wanted to work in education, so I volunteered at a couple elementary schools. I enjoyed the experience and the help I could provide so I got a job working in the local afterschool program. I worked there for about three years and decided I wanted something full time. I then started working as an elementary school assistant and have been loving my job ever since!! In my spare time, I like to spend time with my family, my loving group of friends, and my cat when I'm home relaxing. One thing you should know about me is that I'm a whole child kind of teacher/educator. I think behavior should come first before learning can be addressed. If a child is stressed, tired, hungry, sad, etc, then learning and focusing is made that much harder. It's helpful to the child and adults who are teaching to try to have the basics in place before expecting a lot from anyone, especially kids.
