I have a range of experience including nannying, tutoring, swim instruction (all ages/abilities-Red Cross certified), & teaching ESL to college students. I operate from a mentality that the warmth & openness of a provider is just as important as the care & instruction they provide. I strive to foster a relationship based on kindness & consideration w/ kids & their families by demonstrating compassion & patience, as well as the expectation that those qualities be returned in kind. I believe in a gentle approach, particularly when discipline may be warranted, and understand that the best way to facilitate calm & composure in kids is to model/maintain calm & composure in oneself. I appreciate thorough communication w/ parents, especially in regard to goals/objectives for their kids-be it simply that they have fun/stay safe, improve reading comprehension, or build confidence, e. g. I value individuality and endeavor to nurture each child's unique strengths, abilities, & special traits.
