My husband and I hired Carmen to care for our daughter full-time so that I could go back to work. When Carmen began working for us, our daughter--who is also our first child--was not quite three months old. For all of the normal reasons a new mother is nervous about leaving her child in someone else's care, I was also nervous because our daughter is exclusively breastfed and was already on an established schedule. I was concerned that whoever would care for her might not follow the schedule and might not know how to prepare or handle bottles made from breast milk. Carmen handled everything wonderfully. She started two days before I went back to work so that she could get an idea of the schedule and get to know our daughter a little bit better. She asked me to leave her a copy of the schedule and a notebook so that once she began caring for our daughter on her own she could keep track of our daughter's days. That first day I had to be back at work, it was very difficult for me to leave. But my concerns were alleviated when I came home and saw how happy our daughter was and saw for myself in the notebook how meticulously Carmen had logged their daily activities and that she had done a good job of keeping our daughter on schedule. Carmen also does our daughter's laundry and keeps the kitchen tidy. Our daughter is now five months old. I ultimately decided to leave my career to stay home with her, but we are keeping Carmen on a part-time basis. She is trustworthy and extremely reliable. I know that when I leave our daughter in her care, our daughter is being loved and cared for. Most importantly, our daughter is very fond of her.
