About Carla

Children are naturally curious and possess an inherent drive to learn. My 20 years as a certified public school teacher has shown me to importance of protecting and cultivating the desire to learn. I integrate math, science and language content and provide authentic experiences and investigations driven by my student's interests. Through this process, students experience the relevance of the content firsthand. The desire to learn is sparked when both the content and the process are meaningful. Learning through investigation develops the critical thinking skills needed for advanced studies and throughout life. I provide students all the data collection and lab equipment needed to conduct investigations. I have successfully coached many students for standardized exams including the SAT and ACT. I specialize in integrating critical thinking skills with content to significantly increase test scores. I love children and teaching all age levels.
