Experience: 10 yrs
Being a nanny has been a really rewarding experience for me. I've had the opportunity to work with children of a variety of ages and help them learn, grow, and develop. I've always loved kids and have been babysitting for family friends and people from my church since I was 12 years old. After high school, I worked in an office setting as a receptionist and doing data entry, but I decided that I really preferred working with kids and I found that work more rewarding. I enjoy working with infants and young children the most. I love their excitement and joy for learning new things though play. My first full-time nanny position was with a family who had four children, ages newborn to 7 years old. The newborn was a special needs infant who needed specialized care and very active older children who I would care for and take to school and to their other activities outside of school. Following that, I became the nanny for a family with a 2-year-old boy who had recently been adopted from abroad. The parents and I worked with him to teach him English, use baby sign language, and work on building other skills with the help of a therapist. This was a fun position to be working with a child who was learning so much so quickly and really inspired me to encourage learning with other children I work with. After this I went on to work for a family with 3 girls: ages 2, 4, and 6 years old. The girls in this family were being home schooled so I was also able to help with their daily school work. We would take trips to the zoo, do crafts, play games, and take the girls to dances classes during the day. This family relocated to New Mexico. I then found a family through Care.com looking for a nanny for their 8-week-old when the mother returned to work. I loved starting with a family with a newborn baby. I have now been with them for 2 years and the family has continued to grow. I care for their now 2-year-old daughter and newborn baby son. We spend our days going on walks, doing artistic creations, reading, playing with toys, potty training, and doing Montessori style activities to teach the daughter about letters and sounds. The family I've been working for is relocating this summer to Pennsylvania and I am seeking a new long-term nanny position with another family. Taking care of children is the most fun and rewarding job that I could ever imagine.

Very rarely will you meet someone who knows how to communicate with children and care for them the way that Carey does! She is great with infants and young children and I've gotten to see how her experience has taught her many tricks! I've learned so much from watching her that I've been able to put into effect in my own life and career as a teacher. She has a great patience and love for working with children, she's creative and loves to do crafts with the kids and has an excitement for nurturing their minds though books and other activities. If you're looking for someone who care about your children and treat them with love and respect then you're need to contact Carey. There is no one else I would trust with children more!
