I have known Candace for 7 years. She worked for me at Future Stars Camps for 2 summers. Currently she is studying Early Childhood Education. Although these examples prove that she has knowledge working with children (and an understanding of the development of children), she is much more than her experience. An innate caregiver, Candace uses creativity when working with children. She understands that children need a mix of routine and new experiences, so while she sets a schedule, she incorporates new activities into the schedule. A responsible and trustworthy individual, Candace knows how to work with children of all ages (ranging from the very young through the early teen years), and understands how to interact with children in a way that respects them but maintains in control. When she worked as a camp counselor, I routinely had parents request that she be their child's counselor. She handles conflicts in such a way that she is able to listen and guide the child(ren) in understanding the situation and seeing the alternatives that he/she/they could have chosen in the moment. She is always willing to play games with a child and works well both one on one and in group settings. In all honesty, I cannot recommend Candace enough! She would be a wonderful addition as a caregiver to your family!
