Hello! I am an aspiring healthcare worker. I have three years of experience working as a Caregiver and DSP (Direct Support Professional). In this work, I have worked with patients with severe health conditions and disabilities, including post-stroke, paralysis, cognitive deficits, dementia, dyslexia, autism, multiple sclerosis, obesity, and many more. I learned a variety of skills such as using a stand lift, Hoyer lift, many therapeutic exercises, bathing and hygiene, overcoming eating and oral disorders, intellectual and emotional stimulation, assisting with daily activities, and passing medications. I've seen many ISPs, ACLs, and Care Plans, to consciously know how to care for someone whether it's an elder, a person with a disability or a child.
