About Brittany

I was a caregiver to a special needs woman who had similar traits to a dementia patient for 3 years. She had brain cancer when she was 5 years old which lead to left side paralysis and nonverbal and limited perception. She lived in her home while I watched her and was on a state program. We followed her structured daily routine. I would help her get showered, dressed and ready for the day, prepare meals and snacks and take her out into the community. I also managed her vitamins and medications daily. I would take her grocery shopping to get her groceries as well as hygienic essentials. I did her laundry each week. Her family put her in a home about a month ago due to a rapid decline after a recent stroke and being put on hospice. Before she was put in a home her mobility was limited and I had to assist her getting in / out of the bed or off the toilet or in or out of the car. I am familiar with a hoyer lift as well as a gate belt.
