About Brendan

Hello! My name is Brendan. I am a 19-year-old full-time student at the University of Washington. I am pursuing an education in Psychology to become a therapist for children and families. I have experience working with children as an assistant preschool teacher, teaching in children's ministry, as well as experience as a nanny with various ages of both boys and girls. When I was growing up, in preschool and elementary, most of the teachers were women. Although there were a few men in late elementary school, they represented stoic masculinity and left the care and nurturing duties to the women. This led me to have a skewed view of masculinity that didn't include being gentle, vulnerable, and emotionally expressive. Fast forward to now, I have a deep desire to teach and care for children in ways that help them build security and grow. Their early years are so crucial for development, and I believe it would be a game-changer to have a caring male figure.
