About Bernice

Bernice was our nanny from February 2014 to about October 2015. Bernice began working for my husband (Peter) and me when our daughter turned 4-months old and I had to return to work after my maternity leave. Bernice stood out right away from all the candidates we interviewed, because of her cheerful attitude, confidence, and experience. Prior to working for us, Bernice had already worked for many other families in NYC and she was very comfortable with all the basic responsibilities we asked of her (care + feeding, story time, play dates, park, light errands/grocery pickup, baby's laundry, etc). In fact, Bernice taught us many things that she had learned from all her nanny experience, that we as first-time parents, were extremely grateful to know. Her bilingual English and Mandarin skills were very helpful, as she taught our daughter Mandarin from a very young age, but was still able to communicate clearly with my husband, who only speaks English. Bernice was great at meeting other nannies and setting up playdates with them. Bernice was also extremely organized and always kept our daughter's room and play areas neat and clean. Bernice was always right on time, and usually early! She cooked healthy meals for our daughter and even us, and often brought us thoughtful little snacks and treats. Bernice had also already started potty-training our daughter around 1 year old. Bernice was so reliable, that when my husband or I had to travel for work, we always felt very reassured that Bernice was with our daughter. We considered Bernice a part of our family- so we were very sad when Bernice moved out of state. Even now, a year later, our daughter will ask to see videos of her and Bernice together. Any family would be lucky to have Bernice as a nanny!
