Prior to both of my grandfathers death several years ago, and my grandmother's recent passing, I would've never imagined I would develop the skill set I now possess in working with elderly people. I have worked with the aged in the role of a companion and caregiver in residential, and a nursing home setting. I am familiar with the complex dynamics of a pureed diet and general cooking, wheelchair transfers, changing diapers and wounds, washing soiled clothing, brushing the elderly s teeth, cleaning feet, dispersing medications, bed baths and showers, Alzheimer/Dementia, advocating during doctor visits, etc. I have also gone grocery shopping, played bingo, and, overall just spent quality time with the aged population. I am extremely patient and compassionate to elderly people s needs and wants, and treat them with the utmost respect. Personally, my grandparents helped raise me so I have a deep reverence and special place in my heart for older people and place them on a high pedestal.
