My first experience with babysitting was a course at our local fire department when I was 11 years old. Once I completed the course, my parents allowed me to take my newly acquired skills outside the home. So in addition to my three younger sisters, I began babysitting other kids in the neighborhood. I used my newfound income to purchase pokemon cards mostly. As I grew older I came to find that I have a naturally nurturing nature, genuinely enjoy the process of teaching and watching young people learn, and have a knack for making connections and being engaged by kids. My first full time jobs were as a nanny to working families. Most of my jobs lasted at least a year, and I was lucky enough to work with one family of three (and then four!) kids for over three years full and part time. I've mostly worked with infants, toddlers, and preschool aged kids, but I'm comfortable with a range of ages. Recently I've learned about the Waldorf method of education through pursuit of my degree.
