I am a dedicated college student at San Francisco State University, seeking opportunities in childcare. With a natural maternal instinct, I've gained experience in caring for family members and expanded into babysitting, including providing support for twins on the autism spectrum. My background as a cheerleader and restaurant worker has equipped me with strong communication and patience skills. Committed to creating a warm and safe environment, my ultimate goal is to contribute positively to the development of children, aligning with my dream of becoming a mother. I look forward to the chance to bring my nurturing nature and diverse skills to your family.

We are so, so happy that we hired Ava as our daughter's caregiver. We were looking for someone to care for our 12mo old on Fridays while I take client calls. My partner was skeptical that it made sense to hire someone who was going to be headed back home for the summer after school ended for the year (hiring is a lot of work, and we were opting in to doing it all again in a few months), but I loved her replies to our Care.com chat-based interview questions and loved meeting her in person even more. We very much made the right choice - Ava sets a high bar for the caregivers who follow her to meet. (And we're hoping to work with her again in the future!) Ava's patience, energy, creativity and collaboration were a delight. Our in-person interview was her guiding me through our daughter's day and asking detailed questions about our daughter's skills, preferences and our parenting preferences. I think Ava has read more mom blogs than me - and I'm an in-depth researcher at moments. During her days caring for our daughter Ava did a great job of balancing checking with us by text message when she had questions and figuring out great approaches herself. It's not always easy to be a caregiver in a small home when both parents are working from home, and Ava navigated it very well. Ava and our daughter built a great bond. Our daughter is a very zero-to-sixty-to-zero kid - when she's happy (most of the time) she's very happy, but when she's upset you KNOW IT and she's going to stay upset until you solve the underlying need, which of course she can't verbally tell you about. Ava took it all in stride, worked with our daughter's needs and preferences, and found ways to keep the two of them on a relatively consistent routine while also following our daughter's lead. I learned some great tricks for communicating with toddlers :) If you're looking for a caregiver who does a great job treating kids as individuals, communicating with parents and being relentlessly engaged and positive regardless of how fussy the afternoon is I highly recommend connecting with Ava.
