Hi! I'm interested in the position. I live in Santa Cruz. I grew up around several cousins which introduced me to childcare at a young age. I am 19 years old and I have 6 years of experience with professional childcare. I am currently certified as a lifeguard for pools. I have training as a lifeguard in the ocean. I have professional experience with babies as young as 6 months. I have experience with newborns within my family. Also, I have childcare experience with neurodiverse kids. In addition to family childcare, I have had experience working with a group of young kids as an assistant dance teacher and I was an assistant at a church childcare program. I have animal care experience with dogs, cats, snakes, tortoises, fish, chickens, and horses. My other job, on weekends, is face painting. I can practice on your kids if you would like. I feel childcare is more than just a way to make money; it is a way to make a positive impact on the world. I look forward to hearing from you!

I hired Ariel last minute after my daughter had an unexpected hospital visit the night before for difficulty breathing and acid reflux. (We, the parents, were there from 9pm-1:30am and were very sleep deprived that morning.) I hired Ariel to help me take care of my daughter that day because my partner had to work and I knew I couldn't fully care for my daughter after a long and sleepless night. I sent about 6 messages to several different babysitters/nannies asking for help and she was the first one to respond and arrived earlier than expected to put my mind and nerves to ease. That morning she quickly mapped out the distance it would take to get to my home and gave me an arrival ETA. She arrived, I made the introduction to my 6 month old daughter and they played on the carpet with her toys, she got my daughter to take a nap, we took my daughter to the park to enjoy the swing so she would take a second nap that day. She even offered to pick up some groceries for me. Unfortunately, my daughter didn't want to take a bottle with Ariel because it was the first time they met. So if you hire Ariel for a baby, I recommend having Ariel come a couple of times before so that the baby can know her in advance and not have the bottle refusal (that most babies have at this age). Given the attentiveness, support, and care Ariel brought into my home - she would be perfect for older children as well. On top of being a sitter/nanny, Ariel also can paint faces for parties. She showed me some of her work and they are very colorful and detailed like Spiderman etc. If we still live in Santa Cruz, I'd hire her for my daughter's older birthday parties too. As a new mom, I'm happy to give a reference if you decide to hire Ariel short-time or long-term. She is punctual, receptive to feedback, a great communicator via call, text, and in person, and has a playful attitude that babies and children need. I'm looking forward to hiring Ariel again. :)
