I am now, for nearly five years, a companion/caregiver/personal assistant for five different households, one male at the age of 91, two males over the age of 80 and a female of over 70, one couple retired in their 50s. They are my friends and I look forward to our once a week time together for about 5 hours. With the 91-year-old man I would work 11-12 hours shifts. I help to bathe, change diapers, medication distributed, exercise/physical therapy, daily dressing, organize their homes, do light housekeeping, meal planning/cooking, run errands such as groceries and pharmacy, laundry and generally talk about what's going on in our lives and in the world.
