Our family recently had a highly disappointing experience with Annemarie R., who we hired to care for our 17-month-old daughter. Unfortunately, Annemarie's priorities seemed misaligned with the primary responsibility of child care, which led to numerous concerning incidents. Firstly, while Annemarie is indeed a chef and appears to enjoy home management, her focus on these tasks came at the expense of properly caring for our daughter. On multiple occasions, our daughter was left unsupervised, a particularly alarming example being when she was allowed to go down the stairs without Annemarie in sight. We often had to step in to assist with putting our daughter to sleep, using the stroller, and watching her while Annemarie prepared meals for my wife and me, despite our clear instructions that cooking for us was unnecessary and that her primary focus should be on our daughter. We voiced our concerns to Annemarie, hoping she would adjust her priorities, but the situation did not improve. The final straw occurred when Annemarie was nowhere to be found, and our daughter was left alone to roam in the backyard. This lack of supervision led to a distressing incident where our daughter picked up a piece of dog feces and brought it into the house. While Annemarie might be a suitable fit for some families, her irresponsibility in caring for our daughter was unacceptable. Her response to our feedback was unprofessional; she became upset with my wife and stormed out of our home, threatening legal action over our request for a refund of the upfront payment we made for her services ($2,960 for the month). She never addressed the refund issue and simply walked away. She still has $2k of our money and does not intend to give it back. $2k was taken from our family which is not something anyone else should have to endure. This experience was disappointing and unprofessional. We had high hopes for Annemarie, but her lack of focus on child care and her inappropriate response to our concerns left us deeply unsatisfied. We hope this review serves as a caution for other families considering hiring Annemarie R.
