About Annelise

My first job was as a certified Lifeguard for Hommocks Playground Camp in Westchester. I was in charge of pool safety as well as keeping count of the number of kids in the pool and " buddy checks." Life guarding does not only consist of whistling when dealing with kids- I had to build a rapport so that they would respect me and know that I was there to ensure their safety. Later on, I became a volunteer snowboarding Instructor with the Adaptive Sports Foundation in Windham Mountain. My role was to teach kids with mental and/or physical disabilities to snowboard, to build confidence, and to see progress in the smallest steps. I was in charge of their safety during the day, with a lunch break with their family. Each child had different tolerance to harsh weather, physical activity, etc. So a lot of my job was adapting to the child' s learning curve and style, and knowing when it is appropriate to be authoritative. It was a truly rewarding experience
