I was involved in my mother's care after she suffered a stroke. She lived for 12 more years and I was responsible for her after my father's death. I was not the primary caregiver but I arranged for caregivers for her, took her to doctor's appointments, etc. I am currently the legal guardian for my sister who is mildly retarded. I am responsible for her care as well. Many times I see caregivers for the elderly not engaging with them at all. They are on their phones or just ignoring them. I don't think this is the way they should be treated.
