About Andrea

I have 10+ years experience as a nanny and a preschool teacher. I'm trained in Magda Gerber's work. She was a childcare educator who taught care givers how to interact with babies and children with respect. My focus is on allowing children to do for themselves, to learn how to take responsibility for themselves, to cooperate and to communicate with adults and other children/siblings to get their needs met in ways that respect others. I am very aware and a "sensitive observer" so I can be aware of a child's needs. I provide an environment that is physically safe, cognitively challenging and emotionally nurturing. I'm fun, patient, relaxed and like to collaborate with children to invent games and interesting things to do. To build their self esteem I acknowledge them for their capabilities and appreciate them when they contribute, even in the smallest of ways.
