After babysitting children of ages between 1 and 10 now and then during my teenage years, I also worked as a teacher's assistant at Little Jewels Christian Preschool for the majority of five years. Along with general care for 3, 4 and 5-year-olds, my tasks included cleaning and preparing of daily snacks and lunches, cleaning of bathrooms, classrooms, etc., and assisting teachers in all areas needed during the day. In August 2009, I was promoted to tutor, which allowed me to give more one-on-one attention to students needing extra help in specific academic areas, or helping more gifted students advance. Another promotion led me to the teacher position in August 2011. I was blessed with a class of 20 3 and 4-year-olds. My duties included providing and implementing lessons/lesson plans twice daily, Monday through Friday. I encouraged students to become familiar with academic as well as social requirements through work and play. Recognizing the alphabet, numbers, shapes, colors, days of the week, months of the year, becoming comfortable with scissors and cutting along a line are just a few of the areas we work on, along with things such as arts and crafts, music and imagination.
