As a child, I watched my grandfather be taken over to alzhimers disease to the point my family moved in with him, then eventually had to have a caregiver come during the day. the lady was such a delight that we grew to love her like family. When things continued to get worse with his health, he eventually went to an assisted living home. I was always excited not just to go visit with my grandfather but with him and all the rest of the residents as well. I still remember saying aloud. I'd love to take care of old folks when I grow up. However, I have never persude it til now. I feel there is becoming more need for caregivers who genuinely care. For the last 11 years, I have been paid to care for a sweet individual with Downs Syndrome. However, in the last 4 years, due to my family moving, I have had to be more of a fill-in. And that's where I currently am. Also, in these past years, specifically the last 9 years, I have cleaned many houses on the side and have enjoyed it.
