I am the current full time caregiver for my own grandmother (85yr old F). I've been in the customer service industry in some way, shape, or form for 18 years. My approach towards elderly comes from 2 things I was taught growing up. 1) "Respect your elders" They have already lived a life and learned so much. Respecting those that have already gone through the trials of life is simple common sense to me. Respect can also be shown through giving them the undivided attention of a companion they desire. Kindness, gentle and calm hands is key to both caregiver and elder to go through the day with ease and smiles. Thus, I may not have the "paid" experience most look for, but that doesn't mean I don't have the experience or personality qualities needed to be a caregiver for your family member.
