Experience: 10 yrs
I started babysitting when I was 12 years old and my responsibilities have grown over the years. I started as a "mother's helper" learning the basics of taking care of children. In high school, I participated in a three week Leadership Training Program. The following summer I was hired as a counselor. Since 2009 I have been working as a full time counselor working mostly with children ages 6-10. I was also the counselor for the Leadership Training Program two years in a row (2012 and 2013) where I was responsible for 13-15 leaders in training ages 15-17 for three weeks. In addition to this, I also worked with special needs campers. I have experience with multiples (triplets and twins). I have always had multiple dogs at one time living in my home. I am an advocate of adopting dogs from shelters and especially retired racing greyhounds. I currently have a rescue from AWA in Vorhees, NJ named Alf who is a corgi mix and a retired racer named Boyd. My sister has 2 beagles, my mom has a beagle, and my dad has a Portuguese Water Dog. My family is full of love for animals and I also have that gene.

It is with great pleasure that I write this letter recommending. Alissa. I have known Alissa for several years now as she worked as part of the summer staff at the Presbyterian Center, where I served as the Program Director. I find Alissa to be a mature, hard-working, and responsible young lady who loves kids and has a natural rapport with them. During her time on staff, Alissa has worked with all of the age groups we have at camp, which is grades K - 12. While she particularly shines with elementary age campers, she is excellent with older kids as well, as evidenced by here being chosen to lead our leadership training program for senior highs not once, but two different times. Alissa is fun, energetic, and creative, along with being mature and responsible. It's a great combination for someone who works with kids. Working at a resident summer camp can be a physically and emotionally demanding job as you are on call virtually 24 hours a day. This schedule often wears down many of our staff, especially those not mature enough to get enough rest, but Alissa was an energetic and effective all summer. Besides her normal duties, Alissa is the type of young woman who is always willing to jump in and lend a hand wherever it's needed. Whether the task was sweeping the dining hall, or helping to cover another unit on her free time, it was reassuring to know we had such a capable person on staff who was more than happy to help in any capacity. Finally, Alissa is very dependable. She was always on time, didn't miss a day of work all summer, and didn't have to be reminded what her duties were. For all these reasons, I believe Alissa will be a real asset. If you have any other questions, please do not hesitate to contact me. Regards, Harry
